GO21 Walk

Since 2001, WRDSS has organized an annual walk for Down syndrome that takes place the Sunday of Down Syndrome Awareness week each November. Previously called the Buddy Walk, the GO21 Walk is a fundraising event where the community can come together and celebrate the many abilities of those living with Down syndrome. What began as a small family walk to spread awareness and inclusion of Down syndrome in the community has become one of Waterloo Regions go-to Events with hundreds of family and friends joining in. With participation of representatives from all levels of government, community supporters, pre and post walk activities, entertainment for the children and local media coverage, it continues to grow each and every year.

ABOUT go 21 small.jpg

Created by the Canadian Down Syndrome Society, GO21 events promote awareness and inclusion for people with Down syndrome while raising funds for education, research, advocacy, and community-based programs. Go21 is about positive momentum for people with Down syndrome and their families in Canada. 21 refers to the extra chromosomal material from the 21st chromosome that determines if a person has Down syndrome. There is strength in “Go”. There is advancement in “Go”. There is strength and advancement in the Down syndrome community.
